CHEST clinicians are literally leading the fight against COVID-19. You probably knew this if you have been following our COVID-19 resources page (which I highly recommend). But the efforts of our CHEST members go beyond education and guidelines.
CHEST clinicians are also treating patients with COVID-19, and while we cannot highlight the efforts of all of our members and leaders, Mangala Narasimhan, DO, FCCP, appeared on both 60 Minutes and on NBC News. Dr. Narasimhan is a vital volunteer for CHEST, and she is currently serving as the Chair of CHEST Live Learning committee. And it goes to show you that CHEST clinicians that work on our courses and programs are recognized as the top experts in their fields.
Dr. Narasimhan shows a lot of courage and grace in telling her difficult stories of treating patients in the wake of this pandemic.
And here is a quote from the 60 Minutes interview that includes a video and a transcript:
“We have lots of people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s that are sick and are on ventilators and don’t have a lot of medical problems,” Dr. Narasimhan said. “So, while the older people definitely fare worse, the younger people are also not spared.”
She has an important story to tell in the midst of these difficult times.
